Motivating YEAR 6 residential trips
Give students a chance to shine as they create lifelong memories together

A Year 6 residential trip is an invaluable experience for children, helping them to develop independence, build resilience and strengthen friendships as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
Our autumn trips give children the chance to come together and form closer bonds ahead of their final year, while our summer Year 6 residentials are the perfect way for children to celebrate with their friends and create lifelong memories at the end of their primary school journey.
What’s included in a Rootd Year 6 school residential trip?
Our Year 6 school residentials are designed to meet your trip objectives, and you can choose from a number of options:
1. An adventure-based night away
On this one-night adrenaline-filled residential, children take part in a range of outdoor activities, such as archery, crate stacking and shelter building, before enjoying songs and hot chocolate round the campfire and snuggling down in their cosy accommodation.
2. A two-night residential adventure
Pupils experience the very best of the outdoors through a combination of survival skills sessions, adventure activities and exciting team challenges. The extra night allows for more evening games, as well as double the hot chocolate!
3. A three-night residential trip
For schools looking for a longer stay, adventurous activities including potholing, buggy build and high ropes add to the excitement. There's also more time for bonding and exploring the outdoors, with tree identification, foraging, bug hunts and nature-based games.

Activities with EDGE
To ensure children get the most out of our trips, our Year 6 activity programmes are guided by our EDGE Framework.
Designed around the English Outdoor Council’s ten outcomes of high-quality outdoor education, our EDGE Framework ensures that every activity meets a minimum of three outdoor learning objectives.
When you enquire, we’ll discuss the objectives for your trip and recommend a programme to meet them, based on our framework.

We love the outdoor experience our children wouldn't normally get. The activities allow the children to truly experience the outdoors in the way we hope from this trip
Have you considered an autumn bushcraft residential?
An autumn bushcraft residential is a great way to bring children together at the start of their final year of primary school. Through group challenges and shared experiences, pupils build stronger bonds and discover what they can achieve when they work as a team - creating a positive sense of momentum for the year ahead.
Autumn residentials are also more affordable than peak summer trips, making them a more accessible option for many schools.
Over 95% of schools choose to return to Rootd, confident that every trip will be a success
